Founder

Theresia M. Paauwe is the founder and President of Business Matters Training Resources , Inc. She began her career as an accountant and later moved into corporate management and operations where she served as a Corporate Controller for a mutual fund, Director of Purchasing for a national electronics firm, and Vice President of Operations for a hotel management company. Theresia managed a number of successful corporate turnarounds in the 1980's-90's. At the same time, she owned and operated two home-based businesses.

In 1993, Theresia entered the field of community economic development, working for an Indianapolis, IN, microenterprise program. She had the opportunity to work with aspiring and struggling entrepreneurs as a business development trainer, technical assistance provider, and loan fund manager. Here, she discovered a talent and a passion for training and began to research and study adult training methodologies.

In 1994, Theresia founded Business Matters, to provide training materials, training, and consulting services to nonprofit organizations, state associations, government agencies, educational organizations, and individuals. Many clients share a mission of delivering business development training, technical assistance, and access to capital to entrepreneurs with a goal of fostering self-sufficiency through self-employment.

In 1997, Theresia co-founded an Indianapolis microenterprise program, the Neighborhood Self-Employment Initiative. She continues to work with the organization today as an entrepreneurial business counselor and classroom trainer.

A published author, curriculum developer, and a well respected trainer and public speaker, Theresia lives in Indiana with her Labrador retrievers, Gabriel and Ike.
